Digital business 7.0 & Feedback

Hello!

Another week has passed and this week week had great lectures from Ilkka and Bishnu. Ilkka's presentation was about digital strategy and it was really interesting, the lecture was also streamed through the Periscope app. Overall there was about 70-80 students present and over 70 people watching the stream through the app, so approximately 150 people, not bad.

The most intriguing subject of Ilkkas's lecture was the "Paid media - Owned media - Earned media", which i hadn't really given much thought earlier, really eye opening! Bishnu's lecture was also really good, since i used the marketing grader tool to analyze a website, the recommendations kept telling me about "Lead Nurturing" and i had no clue what that was. Good thing he taught us that, right?

My picture of Ilkka's presentation was so bad quality, that i didn't want to upload that, but this picture is pretty much the same.

So this week's task for our target companies was to use the "Marketing Grader Hubspot" tool to analyze the company and 2 competitors. Basicly what the tool does is it checks what kind of social media pages or blogs the target company has, is it search engine optimized, does it have meta data tags and bunch of other stuff also, for example how is it coded and does the coding need to be improved.

We also created a landing page for Lacy Box, which was a totally new thing for us also and turned out to be way harder than we thought before making it. We added there a catchy title, the main text about christmas gifts and Lacy Box being the obvious choice and before that will be the commercial video, which im still editing since the first version wasn't good enough.

Feedback for other blogs

Otto's blog was quite good actually, he has great visuals in his blog and the text is overall really good. I think i have to take some notes of his blog and start using some pictures also. It was also great that he added pictures of "after hours", it made it much more fun to read.

Lauri's blog was short and concise, however i myself would have maybe added some more texts. I personally think that 2 small chapters are hardly enough to cover the whole week.

Matias' blog was also pretty good, he also uses a lot of visuals and has great content in his blog. His texts always have kind of an storyline, which keeps the reader intrigued or me atleast.

Teemu's blog was quite short also, i guess some people like to keep it short and simple. Like me Teemu could also use visuals on his blog to make it better.

Shpetim was the only one, that i've seen so far to do a video blog on this course. Kind of amazing, his videos were clear and were much more fun to view compared to reading a regular blog. Shame that his videos and channel doesn't have more views and subscribers.

Digital Business 6.0

Hello,

week number 6 has passed and I must say it has been quite the different one. This week we did a social media campaign for our target company Lacy Box, which included a blog post for their own blog and we also did 2 promotional messages for Facebook and 3 for Twitter.

Writing a blog for a women's underwear company was quite hard and it took us huge amount of time to get it done, but after many hours we made it happen, not sure if it is good enough for the company's blog but at least we gave it our best shot.

I also started a new course called "Content marketing" where we were supposed to pick a topic and basically teach or tell others about the subject. I chose the same topic that Anna taught us during one of our lectures about the cross cultural differences. The blog I wrote turned out to be quite good in my opinion at least and I also tossed in some points I thought were good from Lynn's presentation.

Next week we will be doing a promotional video for Lacy Box, good thing I once learned video editing.

Digital business 5.0

Hello, another week of digital business models course has passed. This week we had another great guest lecturer Jyri from Vapamedia, his lecture was about problem solving and creative thinking. The lecture was great and I learnt so much from it, for example how many different ways there are to do things in the marketing business and that everyone has their own ways to operate.

We also started group works for the target companies and our team was assigned to the company called Lacy Box, which is owned by a woman entrepreneur called Lynn. This week our task was to choose few good images from her website that we wanna use in the promotional video that we are going to do in the future. We did a business model canvas for Lacy Box, which turned out to be way better than the last one we did a year ago. We also did a keyword analysis using google AdWords, which was a whole new experience for the whole team and in my opinion it was a useful new technique to learn. We made up 10 keywords and the program showed us diagrams of the expected viewer amount to those keywords and it mixed them into total 116 keywords. On thursday we ended the week by doing powerpoint presentations about what each of us had done and what we are planning to do for the target companies, I ended up presenting our powerpoint alone since the rest of the team was occupied, but it turned out to be quite fun since it was my first time presenting alone in Laurea. Next week we are going to have few lectures and we are doing a blogpost for Lacy Box.
